On November 8, I will be voting for Democrat Shawn Mitchell to represent me in the State Senate and I urge all residents of the 13th Senate District to join me. Mr. Mitchell is a Loudoun small businessman who is focused on jobs and the economy. He has been endorsed by organizations as varied as firefighters and realtors and has the support of Senator Mark Warner.I, too, consider schools to be a critical issue this year, and that is among the reasons I also strongly support Shawn's election.
In contrast, Mr. Mitchell's opponent, Dick Black spent his years in the General Assembly promoting divisive and extreme social issues. He attracted negative attention when he passed out plastic fetuses to his fellow legislators to demonstrate his uncompromising opposition to a woman’s right to choose in all instances, even when the woman has been raped or is a victim of incest. He even voted to inhibit women’s access to birth control.
Education is another issue important to me and my neighbors. Dick Black opposed decreasing class sizes in public schools and voted to cut more than $250 million from Virginia’s colleges and universities. Mr. Mitchell, however, strongly supports investing in our schools, at all levels. He has pledged to fight for lower class sizes and is committed to retaining the best teachers to ensure that Loudoun's students are prepared for the jobs of the future.
Every vote this year will be very important. You can make a difference by joining with me to vote for Shawn Mitchell. The 13th Senate District needs Mr. Mitchell's vision for jobs and the economy.

One More for Shawn Mitchell
A friend who lives in the southern part of Town has decided to support Shawn Mitchell in this year's election for state Senate there. She wrote a letter to the editor of the papers explaining her support, but they have declined to publish it. I've taken the liberty of doing so below, for everyone's consideration.
